Gestern
Nacht habe ich noch bis 2 Uhr gearbeitet und mich ausführlich über die
Westküste der Südinsel informiert... ich glaube, deshalb war ich um 8 Uhr schon
wieder wach, denn ich konnte es kaum erwarten mehr von diesem schönen Land zu
sehen? Oder war es, weil ich einfach das hübsche Studio mit grandiosem Ausblick
noch etwas auskosten wollte?? Die Sea Whispers Studios verfügen über eine voll
eingerichtete Küche und Joy hatte Leckereien zum Frühstück im Kühlschrank und
in den Schränken deponiert. Es hat auch einen Espressokocherersatz: Einen
Kaffeezubereiter oder coffee plunger, wie er hier in Neuseeland genannt wird.
Last night I worked and read extensively about the west coast of the South Island until about 2 am... I think that was the reason why I was awake again at 8 am, because I could not wait to see more of this beautiful country? Or was it because I simply wanted to enjoy the pretty studio with its great views? The Sea Whispers Studios have a fully equipped kitchen and Joy had put food for breakfast in the fridge and the cupboards. It also has an espresso maker substitute: A coffee plunger, as they call it here in New Zealand.

Kurz vor
12 Uhr nahm ich die Weiterreise entlang der Westküste Richtung Süden unter die
Räder... Das Wetter spielte viel besser mit als vorausgesagt. : ) Kaum wieder
an der Küste angekommen warteten spektakuläre Felsformationen auf!
Shortly before noon I took the roads along the west coast direction south... The weather played along much better than forecasted. : ) As soon as I had arrived at the coast, spectacular rock formations were showing up!

eine Stunde später erreichte ich Punakaiki, wo ich die erstaunlichen Pancake
Rocks und Blowholes umwanderte...
50 km and one hour later I reached Punakaiki, where I wandered around the amazing Pancake Rocks and Blowholes...

Weiter
entlang des 100 km atemberaubenden Küstenabschnittes wurde es immer grauer je mehr
ich mich Greymouth näherte... Es war Sonntag und alles geschlossen, so fuhr ich
bald weiter nach Shantytown, eine ehemalige Goldgräberstadt etwas südlich
gelegen.
Further along the 100 km breathtaking coastline it became increasingly gray the closer I came to Greymouth... It was Sunday and everything closed, so I continued soon to Shantytown, a former gold mining town situated a few kilometres south.

Nach
einer kurzen Stippvisite traf ich um 16 Uhr nach total 150 km heute im
Beachfront Hotel in Hokitika ein. Ich leistete mir ein Meersichtzimmer mit
Jacuzzibadewanne und kaum war ich in meinem Zimmer, begann es zu regnen...
Herrlich, wenn man sich an einem schönen Ort ausruhen kann! : )
After a flying visit there, I arrived at the Beachfront Hotel in Hokitika at 4 pm after a total of 150 km today. I treated myself to an ocean view room with a jacuzzi bathtub and scarcely was I in my room it started to rain... Glorious, if you have a nice place to stay!

Um 19 Uhr
verliess ich meine vier Wände um im Hotelrestaurant etwas essen zu gehen. Heute
begegnete ich einem neuen Fisch: Der antarktische Butterfisch, Bluenose
genannt, stand auf dem Tagesmenu, serviert an einer Sauce Hollandaise mit
Kartoffelstock und Salat. Eigentlich wollte ich noch etwas arbeiten, aber
schlechtes Internet (wegen dem nass-windigen Wetter?) war für mich ein
Zeichen wieder mal etwas früher in die Federn zu steigen...

At 7 pm I left my four
walls to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Today I encountered a new species
of fish: The Antarctic butterfish, called bluenose here, was the catch of the
day, served with a hollandaise sauce, mashed potatoes and salad. Actually, I
intended to work thereafter, but bad internet (because of the wet-windy
weather?) was a sign to me to hit the sack a bit earlier for once...
