Heute Morgen als wir erwachten, hatte es wieder einmal keinen Strom... Victoria ging zur Arbeit und ich machte mich bereit um am Wailoaloa Beach joggen zu gehen... mein erster Schritt aber war zu einem neuen Ort um einen weiteren doppelten Espresso auszuprobieren. Ein Schild 'best coffee in town' führte mich zum Zig Zag Café - und tatsächlich, dieser Espresso war wirklich perfekt, so dass ich gleich noch einen bestellte! : ) 

 

This morning when we woke up once again there was no electricity... Victoria went to work and I got ready for a run on Wailoaloa Beach... my first step though was a new café to try out another double espresso. A sign 'best coffee in town' led me to Zig Zag Café - and indeed, this espresso was really perfect, so I ordered a refill! : )

Danach wartete ich auf den Bus nach Wailoaloa Beach... nach einer halben Stunde fragte ich nach und erhielt die Antwort, dass der nächste Bus erst um 11 Uhr fuhr. So nahm ich ein Taxi… Im Smugglers Cave bestellte ich erst mal einen frischen Orangensaft und ging dann meinen wohlbekannte Strand abjoggen und auch schwimmen - diesmal bei Flut.

 

Auf dem Rückweg verpasste ich doch tatsächlich den Bus wieder... ein netter Gentleman beobachtete die Situation und offerierte mich zur nächsten Bushaltestelle zu bringen, wo ich vor dem Bus eintreffen würde - genau so war es und so kam ich sicher und gut zurück nach Nadi. 

 

Thereafter I waited for the bus to Wailoaloa Beach... after half an hour I asked someone if the bus comes today and got the answer that the next bus will come at 11 am. So I took a taxi... At Smugglers Cave I first ordered a fresh orange juice and then went off for my run and swim on the well-known beach - this time at high tide.

 

On the way back I missed the bus again like last time... a nice gentleman had watched the situation and offered to take me to the next bus stop, where I would arrive before the bus - that's how it was and so I arrived safely and sound back to Nadi.

Hungrig marschierte ich zum Mumbai Dhaba, das mir Victoria empfohlen hatte und bestellte ein herrliches Knoblauch-Naan und Roti zum Brunch. In Nadi hat es übrigens sehr viele Inder, auch Victoria ist halbe Inderin…

 

Hungrily I walked to the Mumbai Dhaba restaurant, which Victoria had recommended, and ordered delicious garlic naan and roti for brunch. In Nadi, by the way, there are a lot of Indians, also Victoria is half an Indian...

Kaum ‘zuhause‘ angelangt, begann es zu regnen… dafür gab es wieder Strom! : ) Also Zeit zum Arbeiten und Packen für morgen - die Wäsche von gestern Abend war auch schon trocken!

 

As soon as I arrived 'home' it started to rain... but there was electricity! : ) Thus time to work and pack for tomorrow - the laundry from last night was already dry!

Am Abend holte uns Victorias Freundin Jannice ab, ihre Familie besitzt die Autovermietung Pasifika Rent-a-Car… so besprachen wir die Automiete wenn ich zurück aus Tonga bin während wir unschlüssig die Menükarten einiger Restaurants begutachteten… Schlussendlich setzten wir uns ins hübsche Tu's Place in Martintar, einem Vorort von Nadi, und genossen ein Riesensteak! Zum Schlummertrunk fuhren wir in die Ice Bar gegenüber, wir waren aber alle drei zu müde um zu feiern…

In the evening Victoria's friend Jannice picked us up, her family owns the car rental Pasifika Rent-a-Car... we discussed renting a car when I'm back from Tonga while we examined the menus of some restaurants... In the end we took a table at pretty Tu's Place in Martintar, a suburb of Nadi, and enjoyed a giant steak! At the Ice Bar, just across the road, we had one for the road... but we all were too tired to celebrate...

Um 7 Uhr ging mein Wecker, Victoria machte sich bereit für ihren Arbeitstag und ich für den Segeltörn mit der Seaspray zu den Mamanuca Inseln... Das Wetter zeigte sich von der besten Seite - ideal für meinen Tagesausflug auf und im Wasser! : ) 

At 7 am my alarm clock went off, Victoria got ready for her working day and I for the sailing trip with the Seaspray to the Mamanuca Islands... The weather showed itself from the best side - ideal for my day trip on and in the water! : )

Lulu Bar Café Restaurant, Port Denarau, Nadi

 

 

Eine Stunde später marschierte ich zur Hauptstrasse und konnte gleich in einen der vielen Dollar Busse nach Port Denarau einsteigen. 15 Minuten später erreichten wir den Hafen mit den vielen Geschäften und Restaurants, wo Victoria und ich gestern zu Abend gegessen hatten. Ich kaufte mir ein Ticket für die Seaspray und begab mich nebenan ins Lulu Bar Café Restaurant um den besten doppelten Espresso in Denarau zu geniessen.

An hour later I walked to the main street and could immediately get one of the many dollar buses to Port Denarau. 15 minutes later we reached the port with its many shops and restaurants, where Victoria and I had dinner last night. I bought a ticket for the Seaspray and had the best double espresso in Denarau next door at the Lulu Bar Café Restaurant.

Um 9 Uhr fuhr die Tiger IV, ein schneller Katamaran, los zur Insel Mana, dem Tor zu den Mamanucas. 1 1/2 Stunden später kamen wir dort an und wurden mit einem Dingi, auf die Seaspray II gebracht, wo unsere traumhafte Tour durch die Mamanucas startete. Hier wurden übrigens zahlreiche Hollywood Filme gedreht – echt kein Wunder dass Fidschi so bekannt ist! Zur Begrüssung an Bord gab es Champagner und schon bald war ich im Gespräch mit Maria und ihrer Familie, ursprünglich aus Italien und wohnhaft seit Jahren in Kalifornien... 

At 9 am the Tiger IV, a fast catamaran, put off to the island of Mana, the gateway to the Mamanucas. 1 1/2 hours later we arrived there and were taken to the Seaspray II by a dinghy, and our fantastic tour around the Mamanucas started. Here, by the way, many Hollywood films were shot - really no wonder Fiji is so famous! On board we were welcomed with champagne and soon I was in conversations with Maria and her family, originally from Italy and living in California since many years...

Um 12 Uhr ankerten wir vor Monuriki, schnappten uns Schnorchelausrüstung und gingen an Land - ich bin ja echt vielbereist, aber das ist ein echter Traum hier, auch Unterwasser, etwas vom Schönsten und Klarsten das ich je gesehen habe! 

At noon we anchored out of Monuriki, grabbed snorkel equipment and went ashore - I really travelled a lot, but this here is a real dream, also underwater, one of the most beautiful and serene places I've ever seen!

Zurück an Bord war das Mittagessen bereit. Es gab gegrillten Fisch, Poulet und Würstchen sowie verschiedene Salate - dazu so viel Wein, Bier, Wasser und Softdrinks wie man mochte…

Back on board lunch was ready. We had grilled fish, chicken and sausages as well as various salads – and as much wine, beer, water and soft drinks we fancied...

Dann fuhren wir nach Yanuya zum gleichnamigen Dorf und hatten eine Führung mit Filipe inklusive Kava! War es der viele Wein, das viele gute Essen, die Sonne oder der Kava? Alle schienen erschöpft und müde zu sein… Ich nahm die Gelegenheit auf jeden Fall wahr und machte auf dem Weg nach Mana ein kurzes Nickerchen! : ) 

Thereafter we drove to Yanuya and the village of the same name and had a guided tour with Filipe including Kava! Was it the many wine, the lots of good food, the sun or the kava? Everyone seemed to be exhausted and tired... I for instance took the opportunity and had a short power nap on the way to Mana! : )

In Mana stiegen wir auf den schnellen Katamaran Tiger IV um und kamen nach einigen Stopps auf einigen kleinen Inseln um 18 Uhr in Port Denarau an. Als ich kurz vor 19 Uhr den Dollar Bus zur Stadt bestieg, begann es zu regnen - was für ein Tag und Timing! : ))

In Mana we changed to the fast catamaran Tiger IV and arrived at Port Denarau at 6 pm after a few stops on some small islands. When I boarded the dollar bus to town just before 7 pm, it started to rain - what a day and timing! : ))
