Heute
Morgen holte mich Eric ab um in Café Maloccino zu frühstücken – mit einem
echten Espresso, denn das Maloccino besitzt die einzige richtige Kaffeemaschine
auf der Insel! Das Wetter zeigte sich von seiner besten Seite, so machte Eric den
Vorschlag nochmals eine Inselrundfahrt zu machen, denn letzte Woche hatte es ja
nur geregnet und wir hatten nicht gerade viel gesehen… Was für ein Unterschied
es doch macht etwas bei Sonne zu sehen!
Eric picked me up this morning to have breakfast at the Café Maloccino - with a real espresso; at the Maloccino you can find the only real coffee machine on the island! The weather was just great and Eric suggested to go for a trip around the island once again as last week it had only been raining and we had not seen much... What a difference it makes to see something with sunlight!

Zum
Mittagessen lud mich Eric uns nochmals ins Alizee Plage ein und genossen diesmal einen
Fisch an Sauce Tropical (eine Mischung von Curry und Chutney) mit Brotfrucht
Frites und Gemüse - absolut genial nicht nur wegen der atemberaubenden
Aussicht. : )
For lunch Eric invited me once again at the Alizee Plage and this time we enjoyed a fish on sauce tropical (a mix of curry and chutney) with breadfruit chips and vegetables - absolutely brilliant not only because of the breathtaking view. : )

Am
Nachmittag versuchte ich etwas zu arbeiten, da das Internet aber seit dem
Gewitter letzten Montag Morgen auf ganz Wallis nicht funktionierte, konnte ich meinen
Post nur vorbereiten, um ihn dann später auf Neukaledonien ins Netz zu stellen…
Ich machte mein Gepäck reisebereit und schlief eine Runde…
Auch
heute musste ich Victoria suchen, die mich an den Flughafen fahren würde… ich
weiss echt nicht, wie die Leute hier es mit ihrer Unzuverlässigkeit und minimum
Service schaffen Gäste zu haben… Wallis und Futuna ist sehr untouristisch, hat
keine öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel und so ist man sehr auf das Personal der Hotels
angewiesen! Um 17:30 Uhr traf Victoria dann doch noch ein, verrechnete mir 2
Nächte fürs späte Auschecken (obschon ich der einzige Gast war und viele Zimmer
leer waren!) und wenige Minuten später fuhren wir zum kleinen Flughafen Hihifo.
Tyrone
der Aircalin in Fiji hatte organisiert, dass ich bis nach Tahiti kostenlos einen
2. Koffer mitführen konnte, so gab ich problemlos meine 2 Koffer auf und begab
mich in die Abflughalle. Als die Aircalin Maschine von Fiji eingetroffen war,
füllte sich die Halle mit Transitpassagieren und ich kam mit Nina und Kaheva aus
Noumea ins Gespäch. Ohne Internet konnte ich weder ein Hotel noch den Transfer
des Flughafens Tantouta nach Noumea buchen und Nina bot mir an, mit ihrem Taxi
bis nach Noumea zu fahren! : )
Um 19:30 Uhr,
eine Viertelstunde früher als geplant, hoben wir in Wallis ab. Es war ein
angenehmer Flug in der Dunkelheit mit einem feinen Abendessen, so vergingen die
3 Stunden Flug im Nu. Um 21:30 Uhr (in Neukaledonien ist es eine Stunde früher)
kamen wir im Flughafen Tantouta an, bestiegen schon bald darauf das Taxi und
fuhren die 40 km nach Noumea.
Nachdem Jacques
der Taxifahrer Nina und Kaheva ausgeladen hatten, fuhr er mich zum Hotel Beaurivage
an die Baie des Citrons, wo ich im Februar schon logiert hatte. Es war wie
Nachhausekommen: Ich wurde freudig begrüsst und erhielt ein hübsches Zimmer mit
Balkon und Aussicht auf die schöne Bucht! : ))
Hier auf
Neukaledonien ist es merklich kühler: Abends um 20 Grad und tagsüber um 25 -
das erste Mal in der Südsee benötigte ich eine Jacke! Es war bereits 23 Uhr,
als ich im Beaurivage angekommen war, aber ich war glücklich zurück in der
Zivilisation zu sein, so dass ich mich zur MV Lounge gleich nebenan begab, wo
ich Florian den Koch wieder traf. Mit anregenden Gesprächen wurde es wieder
einmal richtig spät, bis ich mich aufs Ohr legte…

In the afternoon I
tried to work but since there was no internet all over Wallis since the thunder
and lightning last Monday morning, I was only able to prepare my post to put it
on line later in New Caledonia... I packed my suitcases and took a nap…
Also today I had to
look for Victoria, who had promised to drive me to the airport... I really do
not know how the people here with their unreliability and minimum service have
guests... Wallis and Futuna is very untouristy and has no public transport,
thus tourists are very dependent on the staff of the hotels! At 5:30 pm
Victoria finally arrived at the hotel, billed me 2 nights for late checkout
(although I was the only guest and many rooms were empty!) and a few minutes
later we drove to the small airport Hihifo.
Tyrone of the
Aircalin in Fiji had organized a second suitcase free of charge up to Tahiti,
that’s why I dopped off my 2 suitcases without any problems and went to the
departure hall thereafter. When the Aircalin plane from Fiji had arrived, the
hall filled with transit passengers and I got into conversations with Nina and
Kaheva from Noumea. Without Internet I could neither book a hotel nor the
transfer of the airport Tantouta to Noumea and Nina offered me to drive with their
taxi to Noumea! : )
At 7:30 pm, a quarter
of an hour earlier than scheduled, we took off in Wallis. It was a pleasant
flight in the dark with a nice dinner, so the 3 hours’ flight went by in no
time. At 9:30 pm (in New Caledonia it was an hour earlier) we arrived at
Tantouta airport, soon after we boarded the taxi and drove the 40 km to Noumea.
After Jacques the
taxi driver had dropped off Nina and Kaheva, he drove me to the hotel
Beaurivage at the Baie des Citrons, where I had already stayed in February. It
was like coming home: I was warmly welcomed and got a nice room with balcony
and great view of the beautiful bay! : ))
Here in New Caledonia
it is noticeably cooler: In the evening around 20 centigrade and during the day
around 25 - the first time in the South Pacific I needed a jacket! It was
already 23 pm when I arrived at the Beaurivage, but I was happy to be back in
civilization that I walked next door to the MV Lounge, where I met Florian the
cook again. With stimulating conversations it became for once really late until
I put my head on the pillow...
